How we got here

Our founder Josh Mathews began working in the oxygen industry in 1982. In early 1980s in east Texas, Josh was a very young teenager trying to find a job anywhere that would give him a chance—as most had to do. A twist of fate placed him at a sandwich shop asking for work from the proprietor of the establishment who replied he did not need any help.

As fortune would have it, there was a patron who took notice of Josh. The gentleman gave Josh his business card and said he was a part of an industry that was going to change the world. This was the start of his journey.

At this time, medical oxygen concentrators had just been introduced to the public. Having been developed in 1979, the industry was about 3–4 years into its infancy. Josh's grandfather and father had instilled a work ethic in him and taught him about electronics and mechanical equipment along with pneumatics. Their influence lives within him every day as they had both passed by 1980.

When employed by the gentleman, Josh learned that the company returned all their equipment to the factory. His task was to establish relationships with the manufacturers to get equipment back into service. He decided to visit several of the original manufacturers of medical oxygen concentrators and liquid oxygen systems. This is where he met and was trained on the theory of operation for medical oxygen.

During this period, dozens of manufacturers sprang up that developed the technology we are all familiar with today. Josh's initial training by the engineers at the factories was to maintain and service their products under warranty.

Training in the beginning. Our experience in the industry translates to expertise we earned as a oxygen resource globally. Clients, physicians, case managers and the original manufacturers have referred people to us because of our approach to help people take control.

As his knowledge of oxygen concentrators evolved, Josh established a medical oxygen service company in 1989 to serve oxygen concentrator manufacturers. The company provided training to DMEs or HMEs who provided equipment to the public domestically. He also trained companies globally on how to maintain procedures and check performance.

Proven history

Years of meeting and working with the original American inventors, selling and training in dozens of countries, and personally witnessing the decades of evolution in technology have shown us which are the proven products that bring the most reliability, quality, and value to the oxygen user.

Thats why we say "we have been here since the beginning." At Oxygen Parts Inc., our mission is to "Empower people to take control of their breathing through proven products." Having met thousands of people (including relatives) with breathing challenges face to face, we have the knowledge and products that guide people to get back to a normalized lifestyle.

Josh has an identical twin brother.
